Mexic Dance of the Flyers Totonac People --An ancient Mexican Ceremony Involving Acrobats and a Pole

Dance of the flyers - Voladores

The ritual ceremony of the Voladores ('flying men') is a fertility dance performed by several ethnic groups in Mexico and Central America, especially the Totonac people in the eastern state of Veracruz, to express respect for and harmony with the natural and spiritual worlds.

A school in central Mexico is trying to preserve an ancient ceremony.

It’s called “Danza de los Voladores” or the Dance of the Flyers.

Traditionally, the ritual has been popular during the Spring Equinox in the Americas and was performed to make requests to the gods.

Take a look at some images of the Flyers in action. It Was Created By Totonac People as an offering to ask for rain and fertility.

This is my Video on TikTok in Mexico City in the park in the front of the Museum of Anthropology of Mexico City. The Cell phone battery was down after few hundred of pictures at the museum.
