Labirints

Labyrints are sacred forms that have been created on the ground; when their pathways  are walked these forms renew our connection  with the power and sanctity of the earth .
Labyrinths are also carved or hung high on walls or gateways  radiating  protection to all who pass beneath
When drawn in miniature on paper stone fabric or clay labyrinths form a gateway  in the mind to meditative state.

Labyrinths  bring sanctity to cities and suburban parks and they attract people of many faiths to the churches and cathedrals.

A great revival of labyrinths due to revere the Dr. Lauren Artress  canon of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco,

who has overseen the creation  of walkable indoor and outdoor labyrinths modeled on the eleven coil labyrinth  at Chartres Cathedral  located about one hour south  west of Paris.

Labyrinths  can be walked alone or with someone with whom you are spiritually  and emotionally  in tune.

Children instinctively  know how to connect with the labyrinths  energies . Even the most hyperactive  child will become focused or will dance with spontaneous  joy.

Native Americans created medicine wells circular areas dedicated to meditation  and healing from stone in the earth outside the tepees.

The druids had stones on which they created small labyrinths  for meditation  in sun or moonlight.

In many cultures secret rites to bring fertility  to the land were frequently practiced underground .
